IWSG - REGROUP

Congratulations to the founder

For making the Writer’s Digest 19th Annual 101 Best Websites for Writers!
AWESOME!

QUESTION OF THE MONTH!

What is one valuable lesson you've learned since you started writing?

I’ve learned that laughter is an antidote for a bad review! See the humor in their words, and you’ll see the hilarity in your own.

I’ll be taking a break for a while. I need to regroup, redesign, revitalize.

I hope you’re all enjoying your summer/winter depending on the hemisphere you're in, and that all your writing goals are being met!

Be sure to say hello to all the awesome co-hosts Tamara Narayan, Pat Hatt, Patricia Lynne, Juneta Key, and Doreen McGettigan!

Remember the IWSG is on Twitter too - @TheIWSG and the hashtag is #IWSG

Are you taking a break this summer/winter?
From writing, blogging, or just to enjoy the season?

Laughter is absolutely the best medicine. I'll certainly remember that when I'm in a position to get reviews!

Everyone involved with the IWSG should be proud - this was a major group effort!
And what are you going to do - cry? Might as well laugh.
Breaks are good - I have been enjoying mine so far.

I so agree with Laughter being the best antidote against a bad critique. With my very first published short story, I received so many accolades. And then one person wrote a review that burned deep into my soul. I felt her scorn and dislike. Since it was an online publisher, she asked me if I wanted her to remove it. Without thinking, I said No. I didn't answer or reply to her negatively either. In fact, I thank her for taking the time to read my story. That taught me something because I learned to laugh about it. The laughter is what helped me through that one bad, no I will say, horrible interview.

Hi Renee...

Hopefully your break will REVITALIZE you and the laughter will return in full... it is so important to find any bit of humor even in the worst of situations... Take care and enjoy your break~

Hey Yolanda,

Have you missed me? Huh, who is this person? :)

Let your break rejuvenate you. I always try to find the positive in what may seem to be a negative situation.

I laugh, oh how I laugh, at life's ironies.

I think I've been on a blogging break for like a long time and a bit more.

Take good care, my kind friend, Yolanda.

Gary :)

Gary, Gary, Gary!!!!
It is so good to see you here again. I've missed you terribly, although I have caught you and your humor on FB once in a while. I'm dealing with way to many issues right now, and a turn in my health is the biggest reason for taking a break. Rejuvenation is the goal!!! Writing is my salvation, so hopefully when I return I'll have achieved many things! Laughter is the best medicine and I plan to make it a daily habit!
Wishing you well, health for both of us - all the way around!!!
Thanks for your visit, you always manage to make me smile! Cuddle Penny for me, I've missed her too!

Hi, Laura, yes, do remember, it is so important, because some of their words can really make an impact!

Hi, Hilary, thanks for your support! It means the world!

Hi, Pat!
Break - it's when you take a few minutes to try and decide which direction you're really going in. All area's of my life are in transition now. I'm looking forward to finding out where I eventually land!

Yolanda Renée said...

Hi, Lee, slower would be nice right now!

Yolanda Renée said...

Diane, I wish you a great break to tackle all your tasks!

Yolanda Renée said...

Sounds like you already have a handle on it! :)

Yolanda Renée said...

You will, it took me awhile too, but now it comes naturally! :)

It made all the difference for me when I read this -

Worst Book this Year
|
Verified Purchase
A vapid heroine such as Sarah belongs somewhere in an 18th century novel, not in modern times. She is skilled at fainting, being confused, wandering aimlessly around, making terrible decisions, and endangering both herself and others. Oh yeah, we are constantly reminded that she's also totally hot so maybe she doesn't need a personality, intelligence or morals. Hero Steve is more likeable but equally lacking in a moral compass judging by how he ignores all police procedures where it concerns Sarah, or perhaps just to move the ponderously slow plotline. The gratuitous sex scenes (which added nothing positive) read like my diary at age 11, lots of swooning and mind-melding. Did I mention that this was a terrible book? Keep your smelling salts handy if you've paid real money for this joke, you'll need them.

She took the time to write such an in-depth review - that alone made me laugh - and I mean laugh aloud!!!

It's time to move on!!!

Thanks, Pat!

Hi, Ken! I am wishing nothing but inspiration and speed - measured but full of creative artistry and skill!!!

For many this wouldn't be a break, and in truth it isn't one for relaxation, but it is necessary right now to try another tact. Thanks for your continued support! It's meant the world to me! Take care, Michael!

Yolanda Renée said...

Hi, Alex,
You've done an amazing job with everything you've tackled and you should be so proud! I'm glad you're enjoying your break, it's well deserved!

Yes, laughter always helps, especially where bad reviews are concerned. Readers sometimes find things in your story that you didn't put there. It's like everyone is reading through a filter of their own perception. They see things differently, twist your words to fit their personalities, and your only answer to their strange findings is laughter.
Take all the time you need, rest and recover. And laugh.
